Mia’s Kitchen is all about good, homemade food and the kind of comfort that comes with a meal made from scratch. From hearty favorites and classic concessions to convenient freezer meals for busy families, we believe great food doesn’t have to be complicated—it just needs to be made with care.
Located outside LSA Sports in Jourdanton, Mia’s Kitchen is proud to serve our South Texas community with fresh food, familiar flavors, and a little bit of home in every bite.
The people behind Mia's Kitchen
Meet Mike and Cyndee Simmons, or Papa and Mia, as their grandkids know them. Together, they’ve built a life around family, hard work, and always having room for one more at the table. Cyndee has never been very good at sitting still, and there always seems to be a new idea, project, or adventure on the horizon. And that’s exactly how the idea for Mia’s Kitchen was born.
With a blended family of six kids and a herd of grandkids, plus a few “adopted” friends, neighbors, and strays they’ve collected along the way, there are plenty of people to keep life interesting. Add a few cows, pigs and chickens, and there’s rarely a dull moment.
For Mike and Cyndee, home has always been a place where the door is open and family and friends are always welcome. They love bringing everyone together for big family dinners and gatherings, and feeding a house full of family and friends is simply part of life. Whether it’s a holiday, a celebration, or just an excuse to get everyone together, good food, good conversation, and a full table are never far away.
They’re no strangers to feeding a crowd outside the home, either. Together, Mike and Cyndee previously owned Mike’s Meat Market, which included a café, as well as Heads and Heels Beverage Barn, where the kitchen served everything from burgers and barbecue to pizza, tacos, and more. Feeding people, getting to know their customers, and being part of the community have been woven into their lives for years.
Mike is a cattle rancher and broker, hog trapper extraordinaire, and the man tasked with wrangling Cyndee’s ever-growing list of projects, ideas, and adventures. Cyndee loves staying busy, meeting people, and finding something new to take on. Together, they make one hell of a team!

For Cyndee, it’s a chance to get back into the kitchen, visit with old friends, meet some new ones, and share the same welcoming spirit that has always filled their home. Mia’s Kitchen brings together the things she loves most: cooking good food, feeding people, and being part of the community.
Whether you’re stopping by for a quick snack, grabbing something before a game, or taking home a freezer meal for a busy night, Mia hopes you leave well-fed, feeling welcome, and already thinking about what you’ll try next time.
